Le Stellar Music Ensemble explore les folklores du grand cercle du monde à la recherche d'une nouvelle transe. Le chant de gorge inuit rencontre les rythmes de Mélanésie, le violon traditionnel irlandais danse sur un air de Bollywood, les cordes se transforment en sanza africaine ou en vielle à roue tandis que les voix chantent en harmonie et amènent l'antique cantus firmus dans une nouvelle ère.

Joachim Florent est né en 1979 à Bruxelles, étudie la musique au CNSM de Paris après un cursus scientifique. Il co-fonde les groupes Jean Louis, Imperial Quartet, Metal-O-Phone et Radiation 10. Aujourd'hui installé à Nantes, il monte Stellar Music avec Manuel Adnot et dirige ses propres projets Designers (trio avec Aki Rissanen & Will Guthrie) et le Stellar Music Ensemble. Son travail s'articule autour de l'interpénétration stylistique et la recherche de nouvelles sonorités sur la contrebasse, allant puiser dans le jazz comme dans l'ambient ou la musique répétitive.

The Stellar Music Ensemble explores the wide circle of the
world's folklores in search of a new trance. Inuit throat singing
meets melanesian rythms, irish fiddle is dancing upon a
bollywood melody, strings sound like the african sanza or the
hurdy gurdy while voices sing in harmony and lead the ancient
cantus firmus into a new era.

Born in Brussels in 1979 Joachim Florent studied music at the paris conservatory after graduating science school. He founded bands like Jean Louis, Imperial Quartet, Metal-O-Phone and Radiation 10. Now settled in Nantes, he creates Stellar Music with Manuel Adnot and leads his own projects Designers (w/ Aki Rissanen & Will Guthrie) and Stellar Music Ensemble. His work explores the possibilities of stylistic interpenetration and research of new sounds over the bass, seeking influences in jazz as well as ambient or repetitive music.
